About Me

Hello, I’m Dr. Shumaila Hemani, an artist changemaker based in Mohkinstsis, also known by its colonial name Calgary, in Treaty 7 territory, Alberta, Canada.

With a Ph.D. in Music from the University of Alberta, my journey spans academia, creative leadership, wellness facilitation, and community engagement. I’ve served as a Music Faculty member for Semester at Sea (Spring 2020 voyage) and the Faculty of Extension at the University of Alberta. Since 2021, I’ve been hosting free meditation sessions on Insight Timer, where the transformative feedback from participants has inspired me to continue this deeply embodied facilitation work.

In 2022, I released my debut album, Mannat, dedicated to victims of climate-induced flooding, blending art and activism to address urgent global challenges. From 2022 to 2024, I served as an Artist in Residence at Mount Royal University’s Trico Changemakers Studio and the International Centre of Arts for Social Change in partnership with Alberta Ecotrust. I am also a graduate of the Creative Climate Leadership program, reflecting my commitment to fostering environmental and social impact through the arts.

As a certified Positive Neuroplasticity Teacher, I integrate practices that enhance resilience and well-being into my work. I am also a distinguished founding support member of the Global Compassion Coalition, emphasizing my dedication to cultivating compassion-driven leadership and systemic change.

My work has been recognized for its impact and innovation. In wellness, I’ve been featured in CEO Weekly, Wellbeing Magazine, Mental Health Today Podcast, OCD Recovery Diaries, and Dr. David Susman’s Hope and Resiliency Blog, to name a few. In the arts, I’ve received accolades such as the Cultural Diversity Award and inclusion in Women in Music Canada’s Honor Roll (2023).

My artistic and creative contributions have been celebrated on platforms such as CBC, BBC 2’s News, Arts Desk UK, The Conversation, Edmonton Journal, Calgary Herald, Record World International, and Canada’s National Observer.

Through my work, I aim to create spaces for healing, renewal, and transformation, empowering changemakers and communities to thrive.

Presently, upgrade or downgrade options are not available, and all sales are final. Once you purchase a package, no refunds will be issued. Is the Facebook community and live check-ins available in all packages

All Rest Planner packages include access to our private Facebook community and regular opportunities to connect with like-minded changemakers. 🌱

However, our monthly live check-ins are exclusively available to subscribers of our premium packages and offered via Zoom platform, providing deeper guidance, support, and opportunities to reflect, celebrate progress, and plan for intentional rest ahead.

How long does the onboarding process take, and what can I expect?

You can expect to receive access to your accompanying online course and bonuses within 24-48 hours of purchase—we truly appreciate your patience during this time. Your planner will be shipped the next business day, and we’ll send you an email with tracking information so you can follow its journey to you. 

Is the planner and course refundable?
